Where the rebate goes.

Part of every Heroes rebate funds schools and students

Our RESC Heroes page covers what a hero gets back. This one covers the other half: part of that rebate is donated, in the participant's name, to RESC - Real Estate Supporting Communities, a separate Texas nonprofit that runs student incentives, teacher appreciation and school career days.

What you get

Part of the rebate is donated in the participant's name, not out of pocket
Funds student incentives tied to the school's own progress reports
Funds teacher appreciation through the year, not one week of it
Funds career days introducing students to the skilled trades
Two organisations, one name

Who runs what

This site

RESC Realty Group

The licensed real estate brokerage. Carolyn Lentini and Robert Aguilar, with JLA Realty as broker. We represent the buyer or the seller, and the Heroes rebate comes out of our commission on that transaction.

A separate organisation

RESC — Real Estate Supporting Communities

A Texas nonprofit, at resc-heroes.com. It runs the student, teacher and career-day programmes described below. It shares the RESC name and is funded in part by this brokerage’s transactions, and it is not the same organisation as the brokerage.

The connection

How a home sale funds a classroom

In the nonprofit’s own words, on its Heroes page: “$560 of that rebate is donated in your name to RESC, helping fund local student incentives, teacher appreciation events, career days, and school-based programs that make a lasting impact.” It also states that the programme “is funded directly from real estate commissions” and that to qualify you must be represented by a RESC-affiliated specialist at closing.

  1. 1 You buy or sell a home with a RESC-affiliated agent, and we earn a commission on it in the ordinary way.
  2. 2 If you are in one of the six Heroes groups, part of that commission comes back to you after closing. The amounts and who qualifies are on our RESC Heroes page.
  3. 3 The nonprofit states that $560 of that rebate is donated in your name to RESC. It does not come out of your pocket on top of the rebate.
  4. 4 The nonprofit spends it on the programmes below: student incentives, teacher appreciation, and career days.

The $560 figure, the funding mechanism and the qualification rule are the nonprofit’s own published statements, quoted here rather than restated as ours, and they are stated against its own published average rather than against ours. Read $560 as the figure the nonprofit gives, not as a percentage of any rebate. Its full disclaimer is on its Heroes page. Ask us what the programme would mean for your specific purchase or sale.

What it funds

In the schools

These are the nonprofit’s programmes, described from what it publishes about them. Each one names the page it came from.

Student incentives

Tied to the school’s own progress reports, so the recognition follows the school’s measure rather than a separate one. Donut parties for Straight A students, ice cream treats, and gift baskets for students who go above and beyond, plus Students of the Month.

Teacher appreciation

The nonprofit’s "Ice Cream Delight" for school staff, run through the year rather than only during Teacher Appreciation Week.

Career Day and trade workshops

Career day events and trade skill workshops introducing students to electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry and roofing. In their words, they bring "tools, trades, and inspiration straight to the classroom", and schools can invite them to speak.

Common Questions

Questions about the community side

What the rebate funds, and who runs it.

How the RESC Heroes rebate funds school and student programmes, and the difference between RESC Realty Group and the RESC nonprofit.

Is RESC Realty Group the same as the RESC nonprofit?

No. RESC Realty Group is the real estate brokerage you are on the site of now. RESC – Real Estate Supporting Communities is a separate Texas nonprofit, at resc-heroes.com. They share a name and they are connected — part of the Heroes rebate is donated to the nonprofit — but they are not one organisation.

How does buying or selling a home fund a school programme?

The nonprofit states that the Heroes Program is funded directly from real estate commissions, and that $560 of a participant’s rebate is donated in their name to RESC, which funds student incentives, teacher appreciation, career days and school-based programmes. The rebate itself, and who qualifies for it, is on our RESC Heroes page.

Do I have to donate anything?

No. The donation the nonprofit describes comes out of the rebate that is already part of the programme, not out of your pocket, and it is made in your name. Nothing on this page asks you for money.

Can my school invite RESC to a career day?

The nonprofit invites schools to do exactly that on its Career Day page. Ask us and we will put you in touch, or contact the nonprofit directly at resc-heroes.com.
